Boehner to Tauzin: drop dead
Tuesday, August 18 2009
You know who I don’t envy right now? Billy Tauzin: soulless, helpless, heartless, and now – apparently – friendless. His former Congressonal colleague, John Boehner, wrote Tauzin an angry letter criticizing his compromises (.pdf) on health care reform on behalf of PhRMA:
When a bully asks for your lunch money, you may have no choice but to fork it over. But cutting a deal with the bully is a different story, particularly if the “deal” means helping him steal others’ money as the price of protecting your own.
Why do I have a gnawing suspicion that Mr. Boehner has more than passing experience with the economics of school-yard bullying? In any case, this looks to me like little more than a spat between the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies, fought on Congressional letterhead. Who will win? Not any of us!
