As a further response to Mr. Boehner, I’ll mention that I went to the DMV last week to get a new driver’s license. I was out of there in just over an hour, it cost me around $30, and I won’t need to go back until 2016. In the meantime, I can get just about everything else I need done online.

Rep. Boehner has nary a clue what he’s talking about; I don’t know about Ohio, but health care makes my local DMV look like the works in a Swiss watch. If the worst thing that happens in health reform is that our system runs more like the DMV, it will be an exponential improvement.

Depends on what state you’re in. When I first moved to New Jersey the DMV was horrible — long lines, surly workers, uncomfortable chairs, the lot.

About 10 or 15 years ago they changed management systems entirely. Now my local DMV folks are unfailingly courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, quick, and even friendly. They help each of us figure out exactly what we need to do and get it done as expeditiously as possible.

Now, if we could only get our local healthcare to work like THAT.
