Ancient Greeks

Rick Scott is many things, but he is most definitely not a wordsmith:
If this were Greek mythology, Obama’s Trojan Horse has taken shape in the form of the massive stimulus package and federal budget, and like the ancient soldiers who sacked Troy the pieces of socialized medicine are slowly assembling themselves inside the walls of an American healthcare system envied the world over.
I read this and saw in my mind’s eye a phalanx of octogenarian hoplites “assembling themselves” like Robert Patrick’s liquid robot does near the end of “Terminator 2: Judgment Day”; probably not what Scott intended, and certainly ahistorical. In fact, Scott’s letter is mostly ahistorical, counterfactual, and rife with vivid imagination; it fails as substantive commentary, but is still worth reading for the occasional gem of awkward syntax and dissonant imagery. However, if you have even a mild preference for facts, you will find Media Matters’ rebuttal more worthwhile.
