Terminated

Interesting news from my medical supplier today: I have been terminated!
That’s their word to describe the fact that my health insurer considers me no longer covered. We went through this last fall – this is the second time I’ve been “terminated” in the six months I’ve been on COBRA. Once again, I called the insurance company, and they said the problem came from my employer. I’m still waiting to hear back from an HR officer.
Of course, this is a mistake – and not one of mine. The contractor that manages COBRA for my employer has cashed my check every month, so I know I’m doing my part. But this is also the kind of mistake that benefits some of the parties involved, specifically my employer. I’m sure they’d be happy as clams if I just went away and didn’t bother them anymore. Unfortunately, that’s not really an option. I may be only partially mechanical – so far, just my rectum – but I have a decidedly robotic determination to keep my health insurance. So my employers can kick me off the rolls if they want – but I’ll be back.
